A week of "Firsts"

Ahhh summer time! It's here... the kids are out of school and lovin' it. This was a week of summer-time firsts:

They got to sleep in!
Go to the pool. Wearing sunscreen is a mainstay in Colorado winter, spring, summer and fall.
Ride bikes as much as they wanted.
Meet friends at Target and ride bikes to the movies. (Abby did)

As far as training goes, I had some firsts, too. They say you learn a lot about life thru TRI-training. I think you learn more through life itself dealing with responsibilities and reality. I love to train. It's the fun stuff. But, I did have a week of first with it.

I swam a whole workout in the pool in my wet suit while sporting a sunburn underneath. I am not proud of the sunburn. I did not follow the family rule. And, yes, I got in well-deserved trouble with the girls.

The suit felt like it was choking me and I didn't like how my chest felt, neither of which had anything to do w/ the sunburn. But, I swam in it. I was the only one sporting the thing because I am the only person on our team doing a first TRI! That didn't bother me.

I was standing in the pool in my suit full of water. It wasn't on all the way. And I didn't really know how to fix it. I was burning up with heat. The water was not cold. And we'd already swum quite a few laps. But, for the first time, I looked at the coach in my wet-suit and I was no less significant than anyone else in that pool, not even the coach. I was no more important. But, I was no less deserving either.

"Love your neighbor AS yourself." Everyone of us has greatness and significance. Every single human being even self.

I got out of the pool after swimming so many laps and could hardly think. I was exhausted from the heat of my sunburn and lack of cold exterior water. But, I did it.

Enjoy the day,
Christy
